The owners of Starlake Co. came to me because they had a product idea they needed help with. Starlake Co. makes accessories for people that freeze dry food. They were in the beginning stages of creating their company and didn’t even have a name yet. The first meeting, I was brought a prototype of a freeze dry processing wheel. The client wanted me to create a working wheel that can be easily printed and reproduced while remaining accurate with the times.

This wheel resembles a pregnancy wheel by letting you know when to take food out of the freeze dryer or when to put it in if you want it done by a certain time. Every line on this wheel had to be placed very carefully and with precision or the times could be completely off. Any slight change had to be carefully calculated as well to ensure that none of the times would be off at all.
Since this is a very new product, there was considerable collaboration to ensure the product was just right. We worked together figuring out the size, style, and materials that would be used to create the product. After weeks of collaborating, Starlake Co. was ready to test their final product and it was a success!

During the creation of the processing wheel, I was also asked to create a logo based off of a sewing pattern they found and liked. We decided on a few colours that would compliment the processing wheel’s colours and also be different enough to stand out.

It was such a joy to be part of starting this brand new business and helping these people on their journey to become entrepreneurs.
